All of the sudden Name is editable for all files in the ePDM search tool. Where is the setting for this so I can turn it back off?
Why would this have happened all of the sudden? It affects all users, regardless of permissions.

Very strange. If anyone here single clicks it allows for an edit. Only the Name field.
Some users are seeing file extensions while others are not.
I opened the search column set from the admin window to "refresh" the search columns and now the font size is smaller.
Typical I guess...
I believe the extensions are controlled not through the PDM but through windows. Go to Control Panel, Folder Options, and check the box Hide extensions for known file types.
As for the edit of the name, that has always been available to us. If you select it once and then select it again it allows us to edit it. It's a soft click and not a double.
This is because the file name field is not in the first column. Did you reorder your display columns recently?
I have some users who like to keep the filename in the first column and they never have an issue with the single-click file rename behavior. Other users who like to have the filename in a different column experience this behavior.
I don't like it as it is dangerous and makes for easy mistakes. I try to train all my teams to leave the filename in the first column.

it has always been that way for us. if someone tries to edit the file name in a state where it is not allowed, the warning comes up at the end. I don't believe there is a way to block starting the renaming - it appears to be a windows thing.
