What means this error on using smart components ''the selected face or plane is not valid. Its orientation is not consistent with the definition of the smart component''?
This means that the orientation of the reference being selected does not match that of the reference defined in the assembly defining the smart component. To check how that smart component was set up you can open the smart component, right click on the smart feature folder in the tree and select 'edit in defining assembly'. Look at the references that were captured with the smart component and ensure the selections made when inserting this match these references.
I hope this helps.
Thanks a lot Mr Harrison
