I have the same question and have found a partial answer, but not exactly what I need.
In this image I've created a note that's attached to a part and uses $PRPWLD:"Description" to link to the weldment cut list description. This would show the C channel description in your example as it's entered in the weldment profile sketch properties.
However, I need this value to show up in a separate column of a BOM and it just won't work. It shows in an indented BOM but as an extra line, and I don't want that. Not sure what I'm missing....
weldments and assemblies are separate creatures of solidworks.
cut tables and the descriptions there work for weldments fine but they do not work well within the bom...
option....
1. save out the solid bodies to parts and insert them into the assembly so that they will show in the bill as the item that you want....
1.a you just need the part in the assembly hidden will work fine if your showing the weldment and you want a call out for the body that you are wanting to call out in the assembly.
most times I make my weldments as a single part. Then they become part of my sub assembly therefore the cut list works as my bom for the weldment.
trying to add the description call out in a bom in another column did not work....but I did learn that doing the indented bom will give you all the cut list items and a total length for those parts.
now adding a more standard property that you would want to call out on your cut list or maybe the bom takes a little more creativity. Finding the weld profile with windows explorer. Right click on it the file and select properties...then click on the custom tab. There you can add a part # or any standard info that you would want to add to your cut table or indented bom.
the only thing is that you need to add the properties to the profiles before you use them for them to show up. Or you need to edit the feature and then update your cut list again.
There are several Discussions here regarding linking cut list properties to custom properties, or calling out cut list properties in a BOM. To my knowledge no one has ever figured out how to do it. To me it seems a basic function that should be possible, but to date it isn't.
do you want it for that instance or for ever?
u can do it one time by going to the properties in the solid bodies folder of the part.
to have any properties always show up in a weldment part you need to use explorer to navigate to the file.
right click on the file and then you can add go to properties under the custom tab you can add any info to the weldment profile that you would want to always show up in a weldment table using those custom properties...
