I am using solidworks 2017 currently.

In solidworks help it shows that you can use foreshortened linear dimensions as illustrated above.

But I need to do what is shown below.

I have tried the old resize the detail circle to show the edges you need to dimension, then resize the circle back to what it was.

But when i right click on the left side dimension lines I do not have the option to Foreshorten the dim.

Also adding a sketch to the model that I can turn on in the detail and dimension to it works but it is extra steps.

Is there a way to achieve this in solidworks? (without cheating it as i did below)
