I have a part that is a sweep following a helix path. I want to convert it to sheet metal so that I can flatten the part to CNC it.

You need two sketches... One for the outside diameter and one for the inside diameter.. Add a helix to both sketches, take note to keep the starting angle and the pitch the same, then add a 3D sketch select one helix and convert the helix entity to a sketch then close the 3D sketch, open another one and do the same with the other helix and close the sketch, now select the Loft Sheet Metal Feature. One note if you do it this way you can only go maybe 1.25 revolutions in the helix... See the attached 2017 part file
Hi Carl,
that doesn't sound like the kind of shape that will convert well. If it can be done in sheetmetal, it would need to be constructed with some clever use of sheetmetal features. Any chance you can share the part file?
