Hi guys,
I'm new to Solidworks. I tried to model the following object but I have to fillet all hard edges because in the real world we don't have any pure sharp edge.
When I fillet sharp edges, SW hangs and when I click anywhere it crashes. I don't know why.
I tried out many times but I failed. Can anybody help me to learn the cause and its solution?
Thanks.
Hi,
Unfortunately, as it stands this model is un-filletable, although rarely do we actually try to fillet such small radii even though you are correct that perfectly sharp internal corners do not exist.
There are however issues with the surfaces not actually touching (See screenshot to see the incorrect geometry. I think this originates around Boundary-Surface30 in that it is not touching the faces of the cross of the screw driver. Personally I would delete Boundary-Surface 30 and create 2 more planar surfaces to ensure that they are touching the faces. Then carry out your surface knit and Pattern.
Once you have done this, use the Combine Tool to combine all the solid bodies and then try using the fillet tool. This model will only word if the fillets are less than 0.02mm radius.
Hope this helps, Olly
