Is this not possible? or was it dumb question? Is there a better way?

I would set something up in a Design Table, thinking it should work for the Carafe
However, I can see an actual application for this for my actual job.
We do a few assembly cuts here and we have to balance lathe fixtures on occasion.
The guy doing the balancing requires the current weight of each component (even though he really doesn't need it LOL, I still have to list it)
Right now, what I have to do is this work around:
Remove the assembly cut from the assembly. Add the cut to the part level and suppress it in the drawing configuration. Then unsuppress it in the assembly configuration.
This would be a lot easier if I could just pull the current weight of the component after it has gone through an assembly cut.
I know that a work around is to create a configuration of the assembly with only that part with the assembly cut and grab the weight there, but as you can see from the carafe challenge, it is problematic when you try to list weights from one configuration in another configuration.
Try this experiment:
Create a part and make it a cube, 10" on a side.
Current mass of part:
Add said part to an assembly and do an assembly cut, then add a BOM showing mass:
Then add that assembly to another assembly and do the same BOM:
