I have exactly the same problem and gave already up. Old SWFS simulation models (SW2015 or SW2016) run without issues on SW2017sp0 and sp1 but crash with SW2017sp2, sp3, sp4 and sp4.1.
It generates "solver abnormally terminated" error immediately after SWFS enters "Calculation" mode.
Resetting the registry of FlowSimulation or entire SW didn't help at all (sorry Slavash).
Hello Yong Moon Won and Tg R2,
The symptoms you describe could be specific to your files, user settings, workflow, or other software environment factors. Crashes constitute the typical behavior for which the circumstances and the environment play a critical role. As a general rule, when you seek some help or advice about this sort of problem, think about giving this sort of information:
If you need to have this investigated in a professional way, please be sure to contact your SOLIDWORKS Value Added Reseller (VAR). To get the most efficient help possible, send your VAR a SOLIDWORKS Rx Problem Capture with video that shows the behavior as well as your model files.

Hi Julien
1. It is not PC specific. It behaves the same on two PCs. Also it has never happened before, i.e say SWFS2016 would run the SWFS2015, 2014, etc model files with no issues.
2. Yes it did. The crash happens with about 50% of the older SWFS files. It seems the crash happens with the more complicated (more parts) models. It is not RAM related either (I have 128Gb of RAM and used 30% max)
3. You are talking about the FlowSimulation screen here, right? The only information there as far as I could see was "Iteration 0" and "Solver abnormally terminated..." The meshing went normally, as well as the other stuff (collecting sources, BC, etc). It crashed immediately after the "Calculation" message
4. We'll contact the local representative when the whole company switches to SW2017 in November (I am the only one running the 2017 version at present).
P.S. Slavash, I have to talk to my boss before sending you a model
It took multiple attempts to reinstall the whole soldiworks, but I finally got the flow sim to work. I believe part of the issue is solidworks does not place all the downloaded files in the same place. It's their download software issue. someone should notify them
Yong, in what sense are the downloads in different places- the components of a SolidWorks install (service pack) should go as sub folders beneath a top level folder stating the service pack version and year version. It then relies on being able to find the source installation files from when the install was first done- this maybe the disc.
for furture upgrades i would consider the 4th option on the installer page- Download and Share All Files- it downloads everything to one place and no longer relies on previous source files. Makes the whole installation process far far easier.
