I'm doing a thermal ( conduction only ) and static analysis of moderately complex part. Regarding the thermal results, all I want to know is if there is an easy or straightforward way to get the total heat transfer ( e.g., in Watts, not heat flux ) across/thru my assembly. It's simple heat conduction from one area to another. I see Solidworks Simulation can give temperature, temperature gradients, and heat fluxes, but what about total heat transfer across any given cross section? All I can do now is take a look at the heat flux results and multiply that by the cross sectional area to get total heat transfer. But heat flux varies across the cross section, so this is just a rough estimate.
Why doesn't Simulation offer total heat transfer from any or thru any area in the results? Or am I missing something?
