How do I show different bodies on different layers

Basically, I want to do what is shown here:

Except I want to apply it to different bodies in a part rather than different components in an assembly.

How would I go about doing this?

I can't seem to get the "Solid Bodies" folder to show in the drawing tree, which means that there is nothing to select.
