Problem inserting small coupling perpendicular into big pipe

We're having some problems with inserting small pieces into big pipeline, like couplings that you should weld onto the pipeline in order to be able to connect a small pressure safety valve to it, or for instance a pressure sensort.
how can you penetrate a pipe directly with a standard coupling part (for instance: 1/2" socket weld halve coupling 3000lbs into a 14" Sch. 30 carbon steel pipe)?
Untill now we only have gotten close to a solution by inserting a coupling that has 2 connecting points and 1 route point and penetrate the big pipe with a small piece of pipe that comes out of the coupling. However, what we really want to do is penetrate the pipe directly with the coupling, like it's done on the "real world".
Can we do this with routing elements, or do we have to make an assembly with parts that are not related to routing (which I hope not).

Can anybody help me with some advice?
Thanks in advance!
