This video shows to create mold using cavity and core. Core is with a shaft like extension.
The video is tinkering with the shaft after creating it properly. I couldn’t find out the reason. What is reason for that?

because it would be common practice to have that core pin turned out of hardened steel. there is no need to have a huge square base off the backside. Core pins are usually modeled similar to an ejector pin and then nested in the plate or mount in some sort of carriage block for pulling after molding is complete.
