Can't figure out what's going on. When I try to save as another file type, it acts like it's processing but then there's no file to be found.

is it a part or an assembly....are you saving just outside surfaces or the whole thing?
check the options tab on the save as window..

Do the exact same thing, except with "save as.." instead of "open".
my guess is the DLL for the translator is hosed....suggest you shut everything down... reboot...(parallels could also be hosed?)
Sally,.. I'm suggesting something has gone wrong with the STEP translator DLL.. it could not be registered, the registry is messed up.. so, if you reboot, it may register/run?
If the registry is hose.. you may need to reset it,.. very easy to do.. search for resetting registry or this link..

As for Parallels,.. it's a virtual system so.. if you have not already,.. it may need to reboot as well?
