We are looking to add a steel detailing addon to SW. TSD looks like the best fit for us. Please share your thoughts on any steel detailing addon. Thanks!
Did you end up getting TSD? I've reached out to them with no response and posted here asking about it ask no response from anyone here either.
I reached out to a SW reseller about it. He has tried on multiple occasions to get us a trial version, without any success. I am surprised to not get a response as well!
That's a shame. The product seems impressive and would save a ridiculous amount of time. Our shop has recently started doing mezzanines and catwalks, and modeling all of that is ridiculous
Check out my reply (link below) on your post Tony. It is a huge shame and a huge loss for me.
The Steel Detailer/TSD or equivalent?
Forgot it , they are just a cheaters , they pick my 3500 Euros and from that day i never heard on them , Ic3d is better Im just waiting them if any new developpment which includes angles to CN outputs
I have used The Steel Detailer (TSD) for the last 3 years and have done some incredible projects with it but the creator of the software Michael Crawford was forced out of the company by Quadro Design management. There is no longer any support for this software since Quadro does not have anyone competent to even answer tech support.. I am testing a new program which hopefully will be on the market in the near future.
which program are you testing? There have been a few on the market and just when I think it's going to work the company stops.
IC3D haven't updated , Builtworks stopped, EK4 (Steelworks) have suspended and the SteelDetailer has now suspended.
I finally actually just got the email to download a trial for Builtworks just yesterday. What a waste of a program. It's less intuitive for trimming than just standard Solidworks operations. I hope TSD actually is being worked on like they say. That was impressive
I used Builtworks back in 2010, I thought it was ok. It had issues and the main one being the lack of investment to improve it. Another issue was the automated drawing capabilities, an area that seems to be overlooked by all the packages.
I'm using TSD at the moment. I've had a lot of responses to various questions. As mentioned previously by another, they are users and if they have a project on they can't reply for support. Michael Crawford left about 8 months after I signed up.
If anyone wants to know a bit more about TSD I'll do my best to answer any questions. I can't offer support but can tell you what to expect.
Overall I'm pleased with TSD, but I was with Steelworks and Builtworks. They all seem to get to a point and give up leaving the end user with software that could be but isn't.
IC3D approached TSD to buy them out at one stage. Quadro said no and that's how IC3D Steel was born. I has an online demo but, when I enquired more about IC3D Steel they said that the development had stopped. Version 2.1 seems to have been around for a long time.
may be steel detailer software companies such as Tekla, Bocad or autodesk buy those projects , because yes everytime we got new addin for solidworks they stopp developpments...
