Is there a list of $PRP items? On my drawing I want to always display the volume of the part in the title block.
Make it a custom property in the model then like the custom property to a note on the drawing
Also, if you don't like it going out to lots of decimal places, add an equation to round the volume and then set the property to the global variable.
I think that 1 decimal place is plenty for cubic mm.
= round ( "SW-Volume" , 1 )
What he said!!
You'll have to create a custom property, and then create a note and Link to Property. Volume should be available in the list of properties related to the part.
okay, if you create a custom property, do you have to do that for each part or do you mean that I should create a custom property i my part template?
you can do it in the part template and this will then exist for all parts.
okay I think I got it. Thanks to all
Well I thought I had it but something isn't right.
In the part file I this
then in my drawing file I have this
but the drawing is displaying SW-Volume@filename.SLDPRT
What am I doing wrong?
Make sure you have the proper item selected:
Okay that fixed it. Thanks!
You're making it more complicated than it needs to be. You only need the custom property in the Part. You can call it out directly in a note in the Drawing without having a corresponding Drawing property.
Also, you might want to un-mark your follow-up question as the right answer. I almost didn't look at the Discussion because I thought you didn't need help.
