I am trying to make a hole on this lofted surface but solid works wont let. it says "The intended cut does not intersect the model" I even tried hole wizard and still getting errors. I attatched the file so you can see.
I rarely work with Surfaces, and also didn't know you can't use a standard Extruded Cut to cut them, but that appears to be the case. You can, however, use a Surface Trim.
You can't cut surfaces, you will need to create a circle Surface and trim away the excess and the hole area... Now if you knit to a solid then you can..
I don't follow
I didn't know that you can't cut surfaces.
Question, If you knit to a solid can you later "Un-knit" back to a surface if the surface needs to be changed?
I just did the same thing, works perfectly as long as you dont mind leaving it as a surface!
For some apparent reason, when I create a drawing for this part, the surfaced loft does not appear in my drawing. Also I noticed blue outlining around my surface loft.....
Can you attach the Drawing and latest version of the Part? As I said above, I rarely work with surfaces, but if I can't help I'm sure someone else will be able to.
Surfaces don't show up on drawings because they are reference geometry.
See i cant see a surface in a drawing file
In surfaces, extruded cut does'nt work, you have to use trim tool tool for creating cuts in surfaces. The blue lines you in the surface models are known as laminar edges they diminsh as soon as you add thickness to the surface model, also if they are at a corner you cannot add fillets to them untill you knit them.
