Lately, I'm seeing the time to load (turn on) Solidworks is longer than normal and it seems to be stuck on the "Loading Registry" portion. What is happening behind the scenes? Is there perhaps something the IT did?
That is true, however is the loading registry taking a couple of minutes? It is normal for it to take a few seconds on the portion of the loading phase but if it has changed dramatically recently it can only be a couple of things and the recent issue regarding a conflict with a few anti virus programs is the most likely.
Have you mentioned it to them? Asked if they have changed something lately. Or could it be a case of the registry needs a clean or something?
Are you by any chance using SW2015 and AVG?
I am using SW2015... What is AVG?
AVG is anti-virus software, and as well as Kaspersky recently has been causing slow loading times upon "loading registry". Disabling this can be used to test the issue, also disconnecting from the internet during loading can proove this as well. Can you test this?

Thanks Philip. I will try testing AND talking with IT. Our license server is one the network so disconnecting wouldn't be the answer.
It's not only SW but all other software - needs to load lot of stuff from registry to start !
Well, it gets stuck at the registry because all the other components install very fast, including our PDM.
I understand the third party is troublesome sometimes to access to the main program
in my programs, I tried limit using registry to avoid many restrictions
OK, a little update to this situation.
I think the timing of our global IT virus scan software may have something to do with this. They, IT, seem to think people go to lunch at 12:00 local time so that is when they start the scan.
