May i know the API for creating a Custom section view Command in Solidworks Drawing. See below it is my exact need.
Could you please let me know how do i will get that section line by using API or may any other method.
I used neither, it was done through modeling and then saving the sketch as a block. The key is to setup your model with dimensions so it becomes modular. Here is the image of the block I created. In this model the tail of the section is the modular part.
Parth Patel I don't think that option is available, even using a block or a custom symbol wouldn't work well with cross section views.. Maybe somebody like Jim Wilkinson could comment on this..
There is nothing in the user interface of SOLIDWORKS supporting this, but you can do just about anything in the API (which is what Parth is asking about and why it is posted in this area of the forum), so hopefully someone familiar with the API (which I am not), can answer the question.
Thanks Jim Wilkinson
The best you can get is this
By changing the section view line
But i need below thing. Could i will get y API or others.
I'm not sure if it can be done directly but you may try the method suggested by John
With API there might be a possibility but not sure.
API will do same things which is possible in UI. As per my knowledge we don't have custom section arrows option in UI.
Parth Patel I am in architectural industry as well and have often struggled with standards not matching. For this case I believe SPR #458960 covers what you are looking for. If you are on subscription I suggest you look it up and vote for it so we get it addressed sooner then later. While it doesn't solve your issue there is a split balloon available in SW where you can fill your information in similar to what is shown here. It is even possible to set automatic updating if you stay within the same drawing file.
I hope that helps a bit even if it doesn't solve your issue.
What is the SPR #458960. I didn't get it?
The SPR gets created after a user submits an enhancement request. If you are on subscription you can access the SPR's from within the customer portal. I have included a screen clip below to help you find your way. Simply look up the SPR and then vote for it by selecting to be notified when the SPR is fixed. My understanding is that enhancements get prioritized by the number of users voting for the SPR's.
Could you please guide me to how get this page? I tried but didn't get it.
Go to this page: https://customerportal.solidworks.com/ Login (if you are on subscription) Once you get in click on the support tab at the top. That should get you close enough to see either the page I attached above or at least something that talks about SPR's. Do a search for the SPR # I posted above.
Logging in to the customer portal is different from the forum so you may not have an account yet. I don't remember what type of information needed to be provided but I believe your SW serial number will be. Goodluck let us know how it goes. You may also need to contact your VAR to get any login issues fixed.
Thanks for posting that Grant. The SPR is not very descriptive...
I've seen that happen too often. If I go through the VAR, sometimes there may be a miscommunication in creating the Enhancement Request. So, the Enhancement Request is either vague or doesn't nail down the problem correctly. But, if the ER is created correctly, inevitably it gets changed to something vague or inconsistent when the SPR is created. I voted for it anyway, even though I've been trying not to vote for any additional SPRs unless they are related to ONE and TWO because we really need some of that functionality, too.
Also, I hadn't noticed you could get stacked balloons. So, how do I get a stacked balloon in my drawing?
I tried editing a balloon and I don't see where I can make it stacked. Not that I want to make it the default, but when I go to the Options I can't even see how to make it the default, it's grayed out and I don't see where I can turn it on:
Never mind I see it now, it was under Settings:
I was looking for "Stacked" and missed the "Split Line"
I had a similar customer who needed this functionality, therefore, I created for him a modular architectural section blocks, which he could use to replace the SOLIDWORKS section lines. The way I did it, is by creating a section view, hiding the cutting lines and transposing the block over the hidden cutting lines.
I hope this idea helps, its not a solution but it is a workaround.
Thanks for suggestion and I think it will work. I will try and get back to you.One more thing in this did you use any API or Coding for that?
Yes i got it and the Page number and section view is done by manually. Is it Right?
It is manual yes, but you can try and link to file properties. I just left it as is since I did not know how they want to treat their drawings.
I will try and get back to you.
