Has anyone downloaded and tested it with PDM yet? We don't have PDM '17 installed yet. But that bug was a showstopper for me to let IT proceed with the update from '16.
..well, I've been only bringing in files and ctrl-q... no hangs.. seems ok, so far...
Not available is it. Whoops so it is. Not till we find some suckers to test it 1st.

As admin, I installed it on my machine but I don't do any design work with it. So it takes me a really long time to test these things. I did open a few files, make a bunch of unsaved changes, etc. I didn't get any hangs or crashes like 4.0. I am going to install for someone tomorrow. That lucky person just doesn't know it yet.
I have been using the Hotfix, that definitely fixed the PDM Issues. should be a good indication that they found the Cause of the problems.
Cool. Thanks everyone.
I used the random number generator on my phone to mark the answer correct. Paul won.
That's so not fair to anyone else that hasn't responded with how they half-ass tested 4.1
But you said you're just pawning off your pain onto some unsuspecting soul. If you come back with a full arse test review, I'll donate some point to you some points that are also worth nothing.
I'm working on a half arshed bed does that count??
No testing of bed talks. That's for other message boards NSFW
..random half arse testing here.. LOL!
I've been running the hotfix as well. Is there any benefit in uninstalling that and updating to 4.1 proper?
For what it's worth, I upgraded and it seems fine doing the standard half assed testing.
I don't believe so, per John Sweeney, there is no difference.
Edward is correct, these are equivalent. If you have 2017 sp4.0 with the hotfix applied then it is equivalent to 2017 sp4.1.
Don't take this the wrong way, not mend to shoot the messenger.
To get the hotfix one only has to
-go to log in to the Customer portal,
-click on Downloads and Updates,
-scroll down the page to
- click on the S-073387 link
-and on the bottom of the newly opened page you'll find
-there you just click on the hotfix to download it
Anything wrong with providing just a simple link in Tech News on this forum ?
We do have an RSS feed on the forum home page with links, but we're having some issues. Hope to have it fixed soon.
So here's my fun for 4.1:
We have SW PCB on a network license. Everything was fine on SP3 & 4. (we had to install '17 PCB to do the Altium connection, but still working within '16 for SW and PDM.) After installing 4.1 to hopefully do some PDM testing, SW license manager wouldn't get or release the PCB license automatically. My machine 4.1, two other guys on 3.0.
Since nobody else could see this issue, I uninstalled 4.1......went back to 3.0......so now I get to manually check out/release the PCB license. Yay. But the even better part of this is the fact that SW PCB Services would not install. So I have no connection between schematics and the board layouts because I can't create projects.
Why oh why can't the PCB services just be part of the PCB installation? It's a separate server installation.
I get to talk to some important people tomorrow from the mother ship.

Fire in the Sky or Eric Cartman version?
Thankfully I'm not yet running PCB or any Electrical...yet...more fun down the road I'm sure!
I put 4.1 on one of our AutoPilots (DriveWorks) and all is well (so far). Just wanted to add this in case anyone was wondering about that.
