I try to render a simple ring, but somehow the result is not good. There is a "strange circle". Any advice please.../
All the file attached in this post.
Btw, it does not happen if I try using non reflective material. I mean nothing wrong with the cad model.
Looks like reflections only. Try changing the lights or background and check again.
Yes, this is normal and correct behavior for Visualize. You're seeing the loop of the ring reflected in itself. See the example below. If you'd like to reduce the reflection slowly increase the Roughness value of the metal Appearance.
You're right....it does seem normal!
Yet this retailer seems to have reduced this otherwise unappealing and distracting reflection (on all of their round stock) by "complicating" the environment and severely reducing the depth of field:
I still can't get the expected result, I will try using Visualize 2017 instead.
The result you're getting is physically accurate, and correct. That "strange circle" is not strange at all. As Dave said, it is the ring band, reflecting in itself...just as it would in the real world. 2017 will be no different.
Here are some options.
I didn't mess around too long here but it should give you the idea on how to experiment with this idea by scaling/positioning the reflector geometry to cover more of the reflection. You may still need to apply all the options above to add some DOF and tweak camera angle and finally touch up in PS.
totally going to use that!
