Trying to extrude this 3d drawing for my project but cant seem to figure it out. any help would be appreciated.
Your not going to be able to extrude a 3D sketch. The software doesn't work that way. I think you need to create a profile of what you are trying to do in a 2D sketch and use something like loft to get the shape you're after.
BTW, you've got a lot of blue in your 3D sketch. That means things can move around. You want all of your sketch items to be black (defined). If you are new to SWX, I'd recommend the tutorials as a first step. They'll get you up to speed pretty quickly.
Matt Peneguy - you can extrude a 3D sketch - but the results are to be desired at times.. You need to select a plane for the direction of extrude...
Thanks for the clarification John... I learn something new every day!
John, Why won't Lachlan Willis's 3D sketch extrude?
Extruding 3D sketches is finicky to say the least, What I showed above is a straight line sketch that is twisted etc and can be extruded, but a part like Lachlan Willis is trying to do is not possible because of the geometry, I don't know the reason and I'm not even smart enough to guess, rather a stab in the dark, it's about the radius's etc.
This design shouldn't even hit 3D extrude, this is a loft design or a surface loft design...
2 2D Sketches and Loft. (if this is a sheet metal part - better to go over into the sheet metal environment)
Add the corner fillets as features.
