I have been reading some information with regards to the contact conditions on a simulation.

One of my colleagues asked me how do i know what type of welds am I representing on a simulation of an assembly of a steel frame where mates were used?

Is the bonded contact type between to mated faces of an assembly simulating a full penetration weld?

If so, what contact type would i need to simulate a fillet weld, where only the perimeter of the face is in contact with the adjacent member?

Would I need to recreate my assembly and define it differently?

Any help would be much appreciated.
