When I have a feature expanded within the feature tree, moving the scroll wheel makes the tree view scroll up and down.

When no feature is expanded (possibly = when the whole feature tree is visible on the screen, I'm not certain), moving the scroll wheel makes the tree view scroll left and right.

This has always been the case, in both 2014 and 2016 (the only SW versions I am familiar with).

Is there a reason why it should move L/R? It seems to serve only to irritate me, but maybe there is some useful purpose that I am missing. Perhaps it's a feature, but I don't understand its value.

Is it possible to prevent it from doing the Left/Right movement? That would certainly be less irritating.
