Greg, or anyone else,
I am experiencing this with an assembly. I can go to the highest level in the FM tree and RMB for Appearance. My assembly is listed in the "Selected Geometry" box: xxxxx.SLDASM. The "Apply at component level" radio button is checked. If I delete the assembly from the "Selected Geometry" box, all of the original part component colors are restored until I go to save the assembly again. Then, everything reverts to the undesired uniform color (white) and the "Selected Geometry" includes my assembly again.
Some other elements:
"Remove Appearance" stays greyed out.
I replicated this "all one color assy" situation in a different assy by clicking on the appearance color box at the highest level. However, I did get a "Remove Appearance" button and it worked as it would seem it is supposed to, restoring the component colors when pressed.
In the end, I suspect I accidentally toggled something, but I can't figure out where. Any input would be appreciated.
RE: SW2009 x64, SP2.1
I figured this out. The appearances were being controlled at the next higher level assembly. Yes, I'd inadvertently changed the appearance there.
Attached is the assembly file as it did look (monochromatic) and as it should have looked, with component appearance control.
So, if "Remove Appearance" is greyed out, go higher.
(Though I picked this up from a PhotoWorks thread, I really should have translated to a more general thread. My issue was within SW.)
