For something this simple, I would start with building functional searches for your managers. The screen shot I have here displays drawings that were approved YTD and shows all of the columns that they would care about, which can be easily adjusted. With a simple click of the Excel icon at the top they have what they need to play with.
I agree that dashboards are very nice to collate data, but you have a free option right at your finger tips that doesn't require a lot of SQL query code to be written (not that I wouldn't mind writing it).
