I have a sample sketch where a linear sketch pattern is used in the profile.  (SW2016 SP5)

The dimensions are driven by equations.  The question is why the sketch needs to be repaired; why are there gaps between the ends of the line segments, when the line segment length and pattern distance are driven by the same value?  The linear pattern's construction line is constrained to be horizontal, and it's left end is fixed.

Interestingly, when I tried a circular sketch pattern on a different test sketch, the sketch was fully closed and didn't need repair.

I have some workarounds for this, but really am curious why the endpoints of the above sketch are not coincident, and therefore gaps exist
