Hi all,
Unfortunately the graphics card on my PC is not one of the 'official' Solidworks cards and as such I do not have access to Realview and by extension certain patterns.
I have a model on which I need to put hundreds of thousands of teeny tiny holes so I had hoped to use the cosmetic hole pattern however this unfortunately is a Realview Only pattern. I am still able to apply the pattern but obviously there's no visual change when I do this. If I go to render this now, will my hole pattern become visible?
Does anybody have any kind of work around on this? Using Linear Patterning is out of the question because of the sheer volume of holes I need to put on my model.
Thanks very much!
Megan
I think the only workaround is to create your own texture with an image- maybe Photoshop. You would perhaps add some definition/shadow to each "hole" in the flat 2D texture to get it looking as accurate as possible. You would have to scale the texture accordingly to fit the correct numbers of holes that you need. A bit tedious but may be the only way. I have just tried rendering a cosmetic hole pattern with and without Real View enabled and neither shows in the rendering, so if a rendered image is your desired output, you won't get benefit from using the pattern anyway- modelling the holes or a 2D image based texture will be the only way to do it.
