I offset a boundary surface and when I do a regeneration of the model the offset flips. Has anyone seen this before? Is there a fix?
Can you post your file here so we can take a look?
Sorrycan’t post file, but basically the surface offset keeps flipping from inside tooutside when I do a regeneration of the model. (and by the way we recently went from Solidworks 2016 to 2017)
I think it depends on the shape of the surface and the mount of the offset respect to the size of the curvature
if you put a big amount of offset to a small surface, you might get unexpected result such as switching size
Again, here is a just a guest ... without seeing the file, hard to tell !
Here is a jpg of what the part looks like, blue is the boundary surface, offset is.080 thick inwards
It's not what I thought. How the offset would flip side?
Alex,.. was a previous trim involved,.. check those surfaces and also note any short surface boudaries and over extend them before the trim.. see if that helps?
..yeah, it could be a few things but just as test,..
1 - do a ctrl-q and do another ctrl-q.. .does the surface flip?..
2 - check this option,.. Tools / Options / System Options - Performance - Verification on rebuild (enable advanced body checking)
..is it on/off?
..if it's off.. turn it on,.. do ctrl-q again and again.. does the surface flip?
..if it is on.. then it's something else with maybe the sketch or guide curve?
1 - yes flips back and forth
2- yes, on
Yes, checked guide curves
