I am trying to recreate a SW part as a sheet metal part with defined sheet metal parameters such as k-factor and bend radius. I found that there is no great way to directly convert this part to sheet metal using something like Feature works, so I am now trying to experiment with convert entities to ease this process. I have a SW part that has a bunch of holes in it and I recreated this part as a sheet metal part without the holes. I then made an assembly and mated these two parts together. I am trying to convert the holes of the existing part to my recreated part but cannot quite figure out how. Any ideas?

  Hi Steve,
  I have SW 2017. I am just testing this feature so I just created 2 easy, generic parts. One which contained a number of holes, and the other which was the exact same without the holes. I then made an assembly and lined the parts up and mated them. From there I cannot figure out how to make the holes from the first part convert to the second part. Let me know if this makes sense.

    So you are trying to use Convert Entities (in a sketch?) to locate the holes from one part to the other, while in an assembly?
    See a simple example below:
    In the assembly, I edited the sheet metal part (top) and it turned blue in the feature manager tree.
    Then I made a sketch on the plane of the part (NOT THE ASSEMBLY)
    The I selected Convert Entities tool and the face of the other part, click "Select all inner loops" to generate holes locations
    Now you can locate the holes in the sheet metal part easily.
    
    If you want you can delete all relations, then FIX the circles so they don't move and there are no external relations.

      You can mark Sarah's response as correct as she did a great job of going through it step by step. The only thing I would do different is I would Go back into the sketch and dimension the holes rather than fixing them but that is personal preference.

If you have flatten face , use sketch bend.

If you have bodies, use convert to sheet metal

Rib, or bend features can be also used.
