Hide / Edge problems usually occur with turning of "selection of visible edges" option and working with "draft quality" drawing view. But i see that your problem is about latter. You should change your drawing views to "High quality" by clicking on the view and going under "Display Style", this is ecxact the remedy of this problem.
Sometimes zooming in really far works for me. Other times I am not able to delete them, so they just stay.
I think, this is up to the situation that many of the lines coincide on the view. Right click, select other and select desired edge by pressing cntrl and right click and go on with hide option. This may work.
Meanwhile, hi to everybody. This is my second reply and I am from Turkey and I am a mechanical engineer. I am working on fully automation of drawings using Visual basic for Applications with excell. By this, we save time about 1 weeks for just one project which consist of 10 sheets. Although I am expertised in API, I will try to solve the problems about modelling, drawings etc, of this community for the more efficient usage of SW and for a better world.
Have you tried DriveWorks?
Yeah driweorks is a good tool. But the drawings which I automate is not soo standart often. There are too many parts, relations and configurations. So for me, it is easier to do it with API.
