Is anyone using the new Settings Administrator tool in 2017?
I want to apply settings when the user first launches SolidWorks 2017 so they get our default recommended settings. But I also want to lock some settings. In order to apply the locks, I have to select the option "Every time a user starts SolidWorks". The problem is if a user has changed a setting to their preference, it changes it back to the default, so the user has to change it each session. I could uncheck "Apply" for that setting but I want new users to have our recommended default.
Does anyone know what "Include customizations" does. The help button doesn't work and their seems to be little explanation for what the options do.
Well I think I'm about to give up on this tool......and it was so promising. I'll have to go back to applying the settings with registry files with a Post.bat call. The thing is, why was this tool programmed this way? Who would want to reset a setting back to the default every time you start SolidWorks.
Maybe a hybrid approach might work where you apply settings via registry files, then don't use the "Apply" option in this tool and just lock the few you want. I may give that a try.
