How do I save a section of a model to a separate file

    John Henderson

How do I save a section of an assembly to a stand alone file ?

Engineering is attempting a stress analysis however they only want a section of the model.

Can this be done outside of the simulation studio?

Hi John, your best bet is to create a copy of the assembly and suppress the parts you don't want included. Then simulation ignores them but the rest of the assembly stays intact. If your plan is to export the model into another FEA software, then suppressed items are also ignored when you save to STEP, or IGS. You can also achieve this in SolidWorks by creating a configuration- this can be done without the need to have Simulation loaded.
