to simulate mechanically a glass von Mises seems not the best failure criteria, I have heard about Weibull better fit brittle materials.

If it were me I would use the first principal stress - it is the most tensile (since it is brittle and only fails really due to tensile stresses). Further, you need the strength of the glass based on the probability of failure you want to achieve.

thanks! I used the linear elastic isotropic model in the material, already input the traction and compression limit, and as default failure criterion the Mohr Coulomb, it seems ok . the safety factor is even better now.

to visualize stress I use the first principal stress in stand of von mises as you said.
