AutoCAD/DraftSight question

Recently, I was getting "Fatal Error" crashes with AutoCAD 2012.  Rather than call IT, I switched to DraftSight and haven't looked back.  Our Drafter found one of our drawings is giving him the message "Damaged File" this drawing file requires recovery "Errors detected in the drawing".  I can open the dwg in draftsight with no issues and even save it out into other releases.  Is the issue with their install of CAD?  I'm going to ask others to open the drawing in CAD do see if it's the file or their AutoCAD.  I'm hoping it's not an issue CAD is having with a file last saved in DraftSight.
