Design Journal File Format

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere, but I can't find it.

We're running SW2017, Win10 with Office 2013.

Whenever we open a SW file, the Design Journal is a .doc file.

Word 2013 is, of course .docx.

We wish to use the functionality in 2013 (.docx) but the Design Journal, because it's a .doc file, only opens in Compatibility Mode.

The System Options/File Locations/Design Journal Template points to a folder that only has .docx files in it.

The question is, how do I get SW to use docx as the template?  I have renamed the 'journal.doc' file in ..\Solidworks\lang\english to 'journal.doc.obs' and this has no effect, Design Journal insists on being a .doc file.

What am I missing?
