Dimensions disappearing when changing configurations ...

    John Pesaturo

Backstory ... We do a lot of products that are the same yet slightly different (who doesn't) and typically we've done them in separate part files. To negate excess CNC programming and such we have recently started using "Derived" configurations as all of the designs can remain in one model and be tied directly to their base part.

Prior to changing to the "Derived" configurations we could simply save a drawing as a copy, change the configuration and voila ... We had a new drawing with 95% or better of the dimensions carrying over with minimal work to fix it up. With the "Derived" configurations however we lose everything tied to the view when the configuration is changed.

So, with all that being said ... The question at hand: Is there something I can do to pull these dimensions back or have them move over as they previously had done? The geometry between these configurations is virtually identical with exception of an unperceivable change to the dome of the uppermost surface.

      Original Configuration ...

      Secondary Configuration ...

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated ...
