I need to update a drawing. I found out the part file (BFC-12W6...) is not correct. How do I reference to the correct drawing? When I right click I don't see the option "Replace". Any help is appreciated.
It looks like you already know where the drawing is. your screen shot shows a drawing view.
Are you trying to replace the model in a drawing view?
right click on the drawing view and select "Replace Model"
Select RMB > Open Drawing
This will work if the drawing hasn't been moved, if the drawing hasn't been renamed, or if the part/assemlby has only one drawing.
What does RMB mean? Thanks
right mouse button
I DIDN'T READ THAT CORRECT. SORRY
[As Alex says] you can replace the model for one or more views:
Sorry Gentlemen, but I don't see that option. Is this a Add in or something? I RMB on drawing view and even go to Tools but don't see Replace Model option. I use SW 2012.
I don't know when this command was added. sorry.
file you know where the drawing is and know where the part file is you and use the open dialogue box to change the reference.
added 2016 or 2017
its in 2014
OK. Thank you all. For me then it will be easier to recreate the drawing
Know where your correct model is located. Close everything down.
Navigate to the drawing and click on the references button
Double click the Name column and find your correct model
Open the drawing.
Thank you for the good tip!
As an added advantage, it allows replacing a part with an assembly or an assembly with a part.
