Parts will not gradually appear

In an animation of an assembly, when I try to show a part in the time line over a period of a few seconds it appears immediately. When I check the properties it tells me it is set to linear which I assume means the part should gradually fade in.
The assembly is very simple. Only 3 basic parts.

How can I make the parts fade in.

Is there a problem with my graphics card?
NVIDIA Quadro FX 1700

I had this problem the other week, and now I can't duplicate it. What fixed it for me (sortof) was to change the component display at the fully visible keypoint from 'default display' to 'shaded'. Which WAS the default display. FM, give it a try and see if that works. I updated my video card driver yesterday, so that may have fixed it.

You can also try going from hidden to wireframe to shaded. That may help smooth the transitions.

  I've played around with your idea.
  It works now, but I have to set 3 key points. The first is default, 2nd is shaded then 3rd is also shaded. The time difference between 2nd and 3rd is my fade in sequence.
  
  For something that is supposed to be a default setting this is a lot of hassle.
  
  Thanks anyway Matt. At least I can crack on using this method until SolidWorks comes up with the answer.

It could very well be a video card issue. Install the latest SW blessed driver and see what happens. If that doesn't work, try the latest driver from Nvidia. Ignore the decimal place and just look at the last 5 numbers. I opened the file I was having problems with before, and some other glitchiness was still there, although I didn't try changing the visibility keypoints (too much work in it to risk). The inconsistency of this is puzzling.
