I have a flat sheet with a tab that need folding up

It needs to bend up 90° where the grey line is. I need to measure how much of the tab will stay proud of the surface. I don't want to add a flange.

I thought this would be something simple. Am I going to have to add a flange, unfold, trim to suit, and then re-fold? Or, is there an sane option?
