When converting a 2d drawing of semi-circles into a DXF file the arcs are converted into a bunch of small straight lines instead of one continuous arc. Is there a way to keep it intact?

What are you using to view your DXF?
It may simply be a graphics error with the curvature resolution low enough to give the arc the appearance of straight lines between circular points.
Also double check your DXF output settings in the save as window. It could be an issue with converting your splines/arcs to polylines which are what you describe versus a smooth continuous arc.
I was unable to recreate your problem while playing with the output settings.
