Hi all - New student here. I am trying to square off the round head of a nail. Thought I could do this with an extruded cut from a sketch plane. Any thoughts? See screen shots below. I am trying to eliminate everything outside of the square. Thanks.

Thanks very much! I keep getting the same message: "The Direction of the extrusion must be specified for 3D sketch". Thoughts of that? Thanks again!
Show the temporary axis for under View Menu > Hide/Show and select that.
BTW you should use a 2d sketch in the first place itself.

Stop making 3D sketches for things that don't need to be a 3D sketch. For things that absolutely HAVE to be a 3D sketch, you will have to define the direction that you want SW to use when creating extrudes/cut.
Toggle this option and you can cut inner or everything on outside.

Within the property manager of the extruded cut, try toggling the option 'flip side to cut'
