Yes you should be able to do that. Use SW IM to install it and select server products. Then choose appropriate options. And Thomas has pointed, contact your VAR to get the PDM standard license if your're eligible.

I did just that last week. No issues at all even though the license was on at other server. You just have to contact your VAR to open the PDM standard part of the license. This is not enabled by default but you should get it for free as it is included in SW professional and higher.
