I am unable to combine a Geom Tol with a Dim. Here is what MBD is giving me:
I want to make it look like this:
SOLIDWORKS DimXpert follows GD&T standards closely. In GD&T, symmetry tolerances are defined to features of size. You may use the Size Dimension where there is an option to create a width feature during the command as shown below.
Pick two parallel faces and click the green check mark to create a width feature and its size dimension. Then you can add a symmetry tolerance to this width. The feature control frame will be attached to its size dimension automatically.
Could you share a model example?
The symmetry tolerance is in yellow. Could you double click it to find the error message?
The 2D drawing shows .650 as a width size feature, so in MBD, try size dimension, rather than location dimension, to define it as well.
If it's created as a feature of size, then the symmetry should attach to it automatically.
Here is one example.
You are correct that the .650 dim was created as a location dimension, I could not get it created as a size dimension.
OK, I was able to create the width feature size dimension as you described. I discovered I needed to have the dimension selected first then select to create the Geometric Tolerance. Then the Geom Tol attached itself to the dimension as I wanted. Thanks for the help!
