Hi,
Attached are pictures of my BOM table settings and the drawing view I am working with.
I may be doing something that is considered improper practice, so I would like to get it cleared up. What I have is a single part file with four caster bracket configurations. There are 2 bolt patterns and 1 plate profile that is mirrored, so a total of 4 slightly different parts. The issue here is that for part 1 I want it named 'Swivel Caster Mount Plate' and for part 2 'Fixed Caster Mount Plate'. Since all the configurations are under the same Part file, I am having difficulty giving them separate names. I tried to give the configurations (1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2) their own properties in hopes that it would propagate upwards to the configuration grouping row (1, 2). Somehow that worked for the Part # column, but I can't get it to work for anything else. It's quite a mess right now, so if anyone can point me to a tutorial/info page, or shed any light on how I should alter my modeling so that it plays nicely, it would be greatly appreciated. Mainly I want to know how the configuration properties interact with overall part properties.
My only idea is to create independent part files for the fixed and swivel bolt pattern and have 2 configurations in each part file to account for the mirror.
Thanks for your help!
