I have an assembly within an assembly. Is it possible to "explode" the nested assembly into individual parts under the top level assembly? Ideally the mates would be preserved, but not crucial.
Right click on the assembly you wish to "explode" in the tree, select 'Dissolve Subassembly'
Yes it is. In your explode dialog box, select the "Select the subassembly parts" button
Thank you! Dissolve what what I was looking for.
There are a few ways to do what you want.
1) You can open the sub assembly separately, and explode it there. Then inside your main assembly, select "Reuse subassembly explode"
2) Create an explode inside your main assembly and check the box "Select the sub assembly parts". Then you can explode the sub assembly inside the main assembly.
3) You can dissolve the sub assembly, but then you lose your sub assembly structure.
WELL, I didn't understand the question...
He was looking to explode permanently and got it done using Dissolve
