Hello... I'm new to SW and am doing my first BOM template.. I
have a FINISHED SIZE column in my BOM that I want populated with
the properties from X_DS, Y_DS, & Z_DS block properties (these
properties being the thickness, width, and length)..... I would
like for the finished size to display like this: 1.230 x 2.250 x
4.250 Always having them display as (small x medium x large) no
matter which property is displays first, second, or last just as
long as it's sm x med x lg
Any help appreciated..
Thanks,
Jake E.

Was hoping to accomplish in SW
I haven't done this exactly before, but I believe you can assign a custom property in a design table. That way you can do all the spreadsheet manipulation in the design table to create your FINISHED SIZE value for the model. The BOM can then access that value and show it in a column.

You custom property would be
"Height@Sketch1@Dims.SLDPRT" X "Width@Sketch1@Dims.SLDPRT" X "Length@Extrude1@Dims.SLDPRT"

Dan, I suppose that I have a part template with X_DS, Y_DS, & Z_DS as these are in the part properties... so it sounds like I might be able to use "Z@Sketch1@Dims.SLDPRT" rather than "Height@Sketch1@Dims.SLDPRT" etc... If that's what you are saying, the only thing about this would be that the equation would always list the finished size as Height x Width x Length rather than Small x Medium x Large..... what do you think?
If you want to do it all in the BOM I think you could create four columns in the BOM. In three columns put your XYZ dimensions and in the forth column put an equation like Deepak is thinking of. Hide the three XYZ columns and only show the forth column. I'm not entirely sure what the equation would be or if it can be done. I am swamped at the moment maybe I can take a look at it later. For the equations help look in the SolidWorks help under "Bill of Materials" > "equations."

This thread has been viewed many times I see since I first posted almost 4 yrs ago. So hopefully you viewers might be able to use one of the newfound solutions... I recently started another thread and the problem is solved with two different approaches almost immediately.
