I'm having trouble piercing a sketch with my part. I'm able to pierce a circle prior to performing an extruded cut to the walls, however once the extruded cut is performed, I receive the error 'No intersection found for pierce point'. I'm assuming this is due to the cut breaking the circle? I've attached the drawing file. Any help is greatly appreciated!
The software won't let you establish a Pierce relation between the point and the edge you have highlighted because that edge doesn't intersect the sketch plane. You can use the shorter section of the radius instead (see below) and it will work fine. By the way, you had a sketch point coincident with the corner of the rectangle. I deleted it. The endpoint of any line works just fine for relations.
Thanks Glenn! I didn't realize that the line I was attaching to had to intersect the plane I was drawing on. Makes much more sense now. Since I wanted to pierce the longer sections, I ended up modifying the drawing so that the front and right planes intersected those to keep everything clean.
That is exactly what I was looking for. As soon as I created a plane that pierced the path....worked!
Sorry but I fail to see what you're trying to do with that sketch.
Wouldn't this method be more suited and less work to start with?

I'll bet he's putting a rib in for support rather than a chamfer running the entire diameter.

Yes, it'll be a snap on cap for a lens. It was able to create the rib along the four long edges. I still need to create features on the short edges, however I'm not able to create a plane that intersects them. I drew a line through the front plane, however I'm not able to select this line as the second reference when creating a new plane that is offset 45 degrees from the front plane. I'm sure I'm missing something minor.
I still think a revolved profile as I suggested would be easier to do. I assume that the sharp profile is added 'above the floor'. Perhaps the order in which you are adding the features can be changed to ease your workflow. Please consider my suggestions 'off the wall' as I cannot 'see' your design intent.
