What is the universal shape of a Blade of a vertical-axis wind turbine? Because unlike horizontal-axis wind turbine blade, vertical-axis wind turbine blade shape is varying.
There are mainly two types of vertical-axis wind turbine. One is Double wing and other is triple wing. Now the actual shape of wing turbine varies according to the applications i.e., home based, capacity based etc. Because when they design vertical-axis wind turbine they need to consider lots of factors like, what are the weather for that area, what is the average wing speed in that area, does the tornedoes hit this area frequently or no, are there any obstacles which will obstact the wind, etc etc. From my research in this topic I came to know that most efficient is double wing type.
For universal shape of blade, you must must must understand the drag theory for wind, then only you can understand the blade shape. My research is very confidential and though I cannot share it with you. But you can search it on internet that how blade moves.
It would depend on the type of turbine.
As you can see just by the pictures you have posted yourself, there are many different types.
The decision is yours as to what you want to design.......
This is a home assignment. As you can see some blade designs are simple (LHS) others are not (RHS). That is why I want to know.
