Hello everyone,
The local failure check ASME Sec VIII Div. 2 requires you to calculate the allowable strain limit at each point in your component and compare it to the actual equivalent plastic strain to check for safety.
Since we recently upgraded from SW 2015 to 2017, I was most excited to see if I could use the equation driven results to automatically output a plot rather than extract results into excel and do the same manually.
However, much to my dismay, Solidworks does not allow you to use the equivalent plastic strain in the equation driven results. The only available strain is the total equivalent strain which of course includes the elastic strain as well.
I came across the following topic where another user ran into the same problem but posted a workaround involving some sort of a damage ratio, which im assuming is the ratio between plastic and total strain. However, I do not know how exactly he did this. (Link to thread : )
Could anyone help with this problem?
Thanks,
Raghunath
