I am trying to make an assembly view of a sprinkler in grass. How can show the grass/dirt in my drawing?
This is what I am trying to show.
Just make the ground in your model and apply the appearance to that part or feature, however you model it.
In your drawing as Glenn mentioned below make sure shaded with edges is shown, see below this is in a drawing file.
Try appearance/decal- sound like you need a custom image for this task as it's not included in SW lib.
You can add the appearances, however they won't show well in a drawing, you're better off doing a rendering and saving the picture and inserting the picture into the drawing..
I have grass image (see att.) which I used to layout my backyard - feel free to use it
Here is the layout I did 6 yrs ago when I just moved in so the guys can pour the concrete for the patio (including grass and dirt)
From google earth
As others have indicated, you can apply a Grass (or dirt) appearance to a Surface or Part. However, it will only show in a Drawing if you have Shaded views.
Also, if you just want to add it to a drawing, sketch an enclosed sketch to the view you want to add it too. Then use the Area Hatch/Fill tool to fill it in.
